Sleeping better on Methylphenidate

Posted by linkadge on April 4, 2020, at 8:51:46

Since starting Ritalin, my sleep has improved quite a bit. I've been able to lower the lithium with little consequence. Normally when I lower lithium, I get insomnia.

some reason i read sometimes dopamine agonist (mirapex) can help sleep, not sure how dopamine helps with sleep cycles, but maybe the pleasure of going to sleep helps. Methylphenidate is good, mild, effective. It was advertised in the 60s for depression. But definitely don't take dexedrine for sleep problems, releases neurotransmitters rather than being a reuptake inhibitor.

Glad to hear that

They have also been associated with sudden onset of sleep. These activities probably have to do with agonism at presynaptic dopamine autoreceptors.

Someone reported that sleep on Dexedrine was of superior quality.

I noticed myself that methylphenidate helped sleep, as a withdrawal effect when a dose is wearing off.

dexedrine at small doses maybe can help sleep, but standard or high ones, when it wears off your irritable, and sometimes hard to go sleep. Say take 30mg of dex, not sure but that definitely would keep someone conscious and awake. But doses like 5mg-10mg could maybe let someone sleep. Dexedrine is used for narcolepsy, where you fall asleep anywhere anytime. Stimulant to keep you awake. Ritalin is different, much less potency and does not release neurotransmitters, but reptakes them.

You mean "inhibits their reuptake".

Some people, especially those with ADHD, get a calming effect from amphetamines. I've experienced this once, with phenylethylamine (PEA). I could have fallen asleep had I wanted to, but I watched the TV news, and I was amazingly good at remembering what I had seen and heard, even the weather forecast!

yeah when i was on adderall 10mg it made me calm, but a bit apathic. And ... strange thing is, even though i was calm from amphetamine adjusting hyperactivty, i couldn't go to sleep. Even you would think it could do that, its still stimulating nuerosn

this is off topic, but if you know about Desoxyn (m-amphetamine) i have read people, there was some here on abble said it works completly diffrent than other stimulants. And then i got online and i acutally read these said they could sleep on desoxyn. You know, i've always thought desoxyn was the big mama out off all the stimulants, but from reading people describe it work differently than traditional amphetamines. M-amphetamine releases serotonin, and that's why some people works for them because it brings serogenotic properties in. D amphetamine from what i know does not, only dopamine and NE. You would think it would be the big mama stimulant, no from what i read its not skyrocket, it works different, and yes i read some people sleep on it, or they said could sleep. Very awkward because the street stuff of m-amphetamine is too powerful, and its because the dose in those substance are very high.

i don't know, i think dopamine can, in way helps sleep, but i don't know how. Maybe making the pleasantness of going to sleep better. Not sure
