I think Colombia is the smartest of all. They lock down old and sick people and let the others get Corona until they are immune. Then the old people are safe to go out again.

It's smarter than locking everything down. The economy in Colombia will be better of than anyone elses.

But trimipramine (Surmontil) *is* an antihistamine tricyclic.

That's why it is used for insomnia. I use it for depression, and for this purpose, antihistamine action means side effects, although it is useful for concomitant insomnia.

We are in this resort up in the mountains, and just managed to get the last plane back before the borders shut. I always wanted to read 'The magic Mountain, and guess I never will. Or it feels like Walter Benjamin trying to get over the border to Spain and failing, takes morphine and dies.

So interesting to see the countries of the world cooperating in a matter of weeks. Someone told them something very persuasive. Normally no one ever agrees on anything. These people who told them, some kind of modellers?

I've come to appreciate the natural environment in Australia. I live in the country. My habitual depression only lifts when I leave. Maybe I can do lots of gardening? Normally I just read. I've been doing social isolation for decades there.

Yeah, nature is very therapeutic. Social isolation: I haven't been doing it consciously, but social anxiety takes care of that.

> So interesting to see the countries of the world cooperating in a matter of weeks.

That's how come I'm thinking it is part of a global shift in economic policy. The co-operation was in place before the crisis. The NZ government has been saying less retarded things than usual, too, which suggests that we are getting competent extra help from overseas.

The public library and university lectures have just stopped here. Because it comes here last, you know. We have only just had first cases of community transmission.

The (non-corona virus) flu injection has been marketed as being made available 'early' this year. By which they mean 2 weeks earlier than usual for health professionals only and 2 weeks later than usual for everyone else.

So it's being delayed, this year, in other words.

I think the US had the right idea (China too) with setting up temporary hospitals / tents. You want to keep Coronavirus out of the hospitals.

Not here. District Health Boards only seem to look for reasons to close them.

GPs can do everything. Visit the morgue, deliver a baby, abort a fetus day before birth, offer pre-natal care, treat infectious disease, monitor old people's blood pressure.

Sigh.

I wonder what the rebuild will look like?

I don't think this was intentionally inflicted... But I do think that people certainly saw it coming. And the response is very co-ordinated. United Front. From the different global leaders on the world stage.

It's a terrible thing that doesn't really affect me at all because society excluded me already.

I don't have a job to go to.

I don't have school to go to.

I don't have like-minded people to hang out with, en masse.

I was locked out of NZ society, already.

I watch the crappy crappy crappy stupid sh*tty choices that our leaders make. I didn't used to be so very very scathing about them -- but years and years and years of being ignored... Then excluded...

How am I supposed to feel?

There is an element of 'I told you so'. That doesn't do anybody any good at all.

I think about the fires in Australia and how there were many people who told the government so. Who begged and campaigned and so on for environmentally sustainable policies. For reductions to polluting industries. They were ignored. Fires raged out of control. Many innocent animals died. I don't suppose 'I told you so' runs off the tongue when it's innocent animals.

Innocent people are dying from CoronaVirus.

I suppose I still think / see that people are profiteering from this. Close the hospitals. Pay increases for the board of directors. For the smarmy head of health guy, here. Pay increases all around.

I wonder what the rebuild will look like.

It is strange that there aren't more people here.

Maybe the kind of people contact that people are missing is the kind of people contact that is not well served by here.

I wonder what social media platforms have gone into over-drive?

Maybe the non-anonymous ones. The ones with pictues of smiling faces. Video chats and the like. Face time sorts of things. So people can feel more connected.

Sorry, alexandra! So you basically did everything you had to for a degree and they are withholding it and making you jump through hoops to get it? What were your plans before that?

You are youngish, too, right?

> Sorry, alexandra! So you basically did everything you had to for a degree and they are withholding it and making you jump through hoops to get it?

They aren't making me 'jump through hoops' to get it. They aren't giving it to me.

They updated my transcript for some online record sharing system that NZ introduced.

They removed the dates on my previous MA so it appears to be full-time enrolment, rather than part time.

They re-enroled me in the Degree I completed part time, then recorded a fail.

So it looks like I am on a trajectory of 'worse' and failed a terminal degree rather than 'better' of completing a terminal degree in the minimum, normal, or standard time.

They have made it clear the only way I am going to get it is if a judge orders them to.

Legal aid lawyers (and most other people I try and explain things to) don't seem to understand what I am saying.

I suppose it is because legal cases are time consuming and I'm not going to pay them by the hour.

I don't suppose public defenders tell their legal aid clients they don't think they can win their case.

But they tell me they don't think I can win mine and they don't want to help me with it.

They recently updated the list of legal aid lawyers to around 70 pages of them.

You know, in case I feel particularly massochistic about having them all tell me they don't want to waste their time.

I suppose because there is nothing here.

No medical system. No education system. Only a series of corrupt officials doing whatever they want and grubbing up all the money.

> What were your plans before that?

Completing a degree from a NZ university in the `minimum, normal, or standard time' meant I was eligible to apply for Med.

Only, the way it's supposed to work is that nobody finishes in the minimum, normal, or standard time. So the committee gets to decide whether or not they want you to do it / whether they will process your application or not. Because they don't have to since you didn't meet the requirement. But it is 'normally, in the minimum, normal, or standard time' so they make exceptions for the kids they choose.

Also... They want the grades to come from the last 5 years because they often get to choose what grades the kids get, too. So they are supposed to factor your GPA in rather a lot to your rank order score. My GPA is very very high. They don't like that. So they are trying to alter my previous transcripts so they can lower my GPA by crediting some part time study I did as full time.

> You are youngish, too, right?

They think I am old. THey think I am the same age as some of them. THey think that because I did not run myself up the hierarchy (up university administration and aim to be VC) then I am unable to focus on the most meaningful things in life / I lack the capacity to do anything at all.

I was going to do Medicine.

But they refuse to process my applications / completions.

OUr University system has gone away.

We just have a bunch of people who choose whose kids to give whatever grades to, whatever professional practice degree entry to, whatever professional practice degree completion to. We don't believe in freedom. We dont' believe in individual choice. We dont believe that natural ability and hard work is relevant to anything that matters.

We just have a group of money grubbing bullies using their power to prevent the development of our peoples.

Ruining everything for their own petty, narrowminded, and shortsighted short-term profits.

Things are very very very backwards here and our developmental trajectory appears to be one of regression only.

The people at the top seem to lack the most basic level of reading comprehension and fair mindedness.

I mean reading age of... Less than 16.

Moral development of...

They would rather keep slaves.

So it's their kids in the hospitals.
It's their kids playing doctors and nurses in the hospitals.
Washing their hands?
Stealing the face masks and hand sanitisers?

But getting selected to do Medicine doesn't mean you actually work in the hospitals.
It's just a thing you do on your way up the hierarchy of administration.
That's why they don't think it matters what Degree you do.
They all 'aim' for precisely one thing / outcome / place: VC.
All of the power. None of the responsibility.
All of the power to ensure that this country only develops backwards.

So the people we let into Medical School.
The people we give Medical Degrees.
They are just place-holders to prevent anybody from practicing Medicine.
The idea is that they crowd out practitioners.
We can say 'awwwwww it's just so completitive'.
But the truth of it is that we don't process applications properly.
Not for admissions.
Not for jobs.
We don't give the place to the candidates most likely to go on to to well.
We don't give the jobs to the candidate most likely to perform well.
We re-define what it is to do 'well' as brown-nosing to the people at the top.

We are only allowed to hang about in groups singing the praises of people further up the hierarchy.

That's what we do all day.
The government sanctioned activity.
Groups of people brown-nosing to people further up the hierarchy.
Giving them all their work.
Singing their praises.

Until they tire of you.
Sign you off if they think you are like them.

Never sign you off if they see you are not.

Welcome to NZ.

Would you like to invest in our education system?

Would you like to be a graduate student, here?

The University officials don't think that they have to send a thesis submitted for examination out for examination, at all.

Ever.

They think they can just choose not to do that. Just choose not to process the Degree.

You pay thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars and they effectively say: 'We want you to pay us more fees because it isn't good enough yet, just keep on working'.

And if you say 'actually, the examiners did not say that I was required to re-enrol the Calendar Regulations allow up to 10 weeks of substantive changes without re-enrolment and I did those so now you are required to give me the Degree. It's done'.

And they go:

'Make us'.

Because they are 2 year olds, really.

And because they are a combination of evil and inept.

I guess if some kid of a harem leader over in Iran or wherever pays the Medical Admissions Committee $100,000 for one of his kids to have a place in Medicine with a $5,000 scholarship...

So they can learn how to give abortions and so on and look after the Harem back home... Date Rape seditives... You get the idea...

Then what value is my life?

They would rather pay me out in the courts.

Not that the courts would pay out.

But it would actually be *cheaper for them* or *a better deal for them* to pay out whatever paltry sum to the courts that they think my life is worth.

You can't function amongst people who have no self-esteem.

It's weird...

It's like they don't have cognitive capaciaty when it comes to morality or reading comprehension....

They don't have cognitive capacity to see that their dodgey business practices are unsustainable. That word will get out. That people won't do business with them...

It's like they act for tehir own short term selfish interests without the cognitive capaciaty for the longer term...

It's like they choose 1 now rather than 5 later for themselves...

__________

But then it's also like they are embracing the self-destruct.

Looking forward to it.

Like the person who enjoys going along to confessional and confesing all the things. Some kind of glorified re-canting.

It's an interesting way to go down.

Head of a sinking ship.

That's the sense I get of our leaders, mostly.

Doom in ineviable. Leading the destruction.

Thinking only that if they werent' -- then someone else would be.

__________

These people wouldn't help me -- if I needed help.

They don't want to be helped.

They are very invested in ensuring that nobody has access to anything in NZ.

NO education.

No medical stuff.

Nothing.

Just shutting the things all down

____________

It goes back to infants at that very very very very young age.

With Mother singing a soothing song.

All we do all day is sing the praises of the senior officials.

Give them our work (our sh*t -- according to them -- unless all you do in your work is sing their praises).

___________

There is really nothing here.

__________

I think it was Singer or someone who said something a bit more recently about what is required for... What was it...

Critical reflection? Something like that. Dialogue. Critique.

There's a basic background or backdrop.

And that is what is lacking here.

So all there is is singing the praises and agreement.

Nothign else is tolerated at all.

And that manifests as 'yes dear, of cousre dear, anything you say dear'

To placate.

While the actions / behavior are not in accordance at all.

Feigned ignorance.

(What are you going to do about it).

___________

All people do / can do is leave.

But the borders have been shut down.

Meh. My job is so incredibly stressful that I am enjoying every moment off. We're not at a mandatory lockdown yet so I can still go out for walks / exercise. I'm a loner anyway, so not much change.
