quick quetion about ananymous

Posted by rjlockhart37 on February 7, 2020, at 20:10:18

i just have to go post this, goodness it's on the net, but i have to ask this, why people perfer cocaine or amphetamines? they both do the same thing, but cocaine lasts only 30min and you have too....keep sniffin it up you nose. This post, i hope won't reget but i can't find anything on the net, and i've seen people on fbook taking hits, when you take amphetamine or m-amphetamine and it will last 4-5 hours. The only thing i researched is methamphetamine makes you crazy...you do very, repetitive things, and it makes you paranoid, and can be awake for days. It;s neurotoxic, the is known fact, it wears down your dopamine terminals, and you have to off it to get back to normal life. I thnk this is the street form of iut, not the prescription form desoxyn. I mean you know ik at nightclub parties there somewhere in the back blowing their nose up with cocaine. It only lasts 30 min. I don't know....all i know is m-amphetamine , the street form makes you crazy, repetitive things, do way insane things you would not normal, stay awake for days.

does anyone...just know why, are they different in their so called effects or somethings

Somewhat. Their mechanisms of action are quite different.

No, you can also eat it, drink it, smoke it, and inject it in several different places, but most commonly into a vein.

Methamphetamine lasts longer than regular amphetamine. I think its half-life is generally about 12 hours, and, importantly, it is metabolised to amphetamine, which of course itself is pharmacologically active.

> The only thing i researched is methamphetamine makes you crazy...you do very, repetitive things, and it makes you paranoid, and can be awake for days.

That happens sometimes, but it depends a lot on the individual, how one uses it, and how much.

The street version is typically adulterated, and the prescription version constains excipients, but the active ingredient is otherwise the same.

I did not use methamphetamine, but I'm very familiar with staying up for days.

I got psychotic once from sleep deprivation. Since then, I've learnt to cope, and I don't get psychotic any more even if I'm up for very long, perhaps even a week. Note that I'm not currently doing this -- just saying I'm familiar with it.

I've never had cocaine so I don't know about that. I have had methamphetamine and speed, though. I liked them a lot. They make you feel very good. I have had other drugs and wondered where the high was. I never wondered where the high was with methamphetamine or speed. There the high was. I felt high. Really really really really really really good.

I did have auditory hallucinations at higher doses / over longer time periods. Mostly people asking 'why is she here?' and 'Why did you bring her for' and things like that. Very clear things that they were clearly saying. Rationally I *knew* that these were hallucinations because the people I was with would not have been so rude (even if they genuinely did not like me and wanted me to leave) but *perception-wise* they were very very vivid and compelling halluncinations. Paranoid delusions, really. It, uh, did make me feel a bit like I wanted to get myself a knife and huddle with it in self defence in the corner. Which is not very nice. Not a very nice thing to feel that one has to do, while otherwise feeling *so good*.

That's the trouble with methamphetamine. You hear people breaking and entering (then stabby stabbing people in self defence) to get stuff to sell to get more funds for more drugs... ANd you just generally hear about people having paranoid delusions and lashing out at people who were *not* trying to harm them.

The good feeling is very very addictive. And the hallucinations tend to be auditory mostly and paranoia... And people tend to self defensively lash out in ways that hurt others.

I don't know about cocaine.

That is great. The worst problem with it is that amphetamines (including meth) are neurotoxic at high doses and with prolonged use.

> I did have auditory hallucinations at higher doses / over longer time periods. Mostly people asking 'why is she here?' and 'Why did you bring her for' and things like that.

That sounds like you have alter personalities, and the drug effects brought them closer to surface -- close enough that you could hear them. The "she" may or may not refer to you -- could be another alter.

These effects, and whether you get them at all, is very individual.

It's not necessarily the drug itself that causes these reactions, but rather the sleep deprivation it produces.

I drove myself to psychosis too, with a cocaine-like stimulant, but this only happened once, even though later episodes of prolonged wakefulness were much longer.

I don't think it is about alter personalities...

I think it is just that methamphetamine, typically, does result in intense feelings of paranoia (fight / flight response) at high doses / over longer time periods.

The way that alcohol results in motor co-ordination problems and vomiting at high doses / over longer time periods.

I know that some people get violent with alcohol... Some other people get weepy with alcohol... Different people have different responses with it, depending a bit on their personality etc etc. But I have only ever heard of people developing paranoid hallucinations (typically auditory) and delusions with extended use of methamphetamine.

It is true what you say about sleep deprivation... Extended use of methamphetamine does get all mixed up with effects of sleep deprivation...

I'm not sure about over longer time periods. I think you may learn to handle it better with extensive use. Nausea can come pretty soon... for me it comes after the alcohol is beginning to wear off.

the main thing i do know is : cocaine is powerful dopamine reuptake inhibitor, its like focalin or ritalin x 10. That's why its been a euphoric, ritalin enhances concentration and ability to focus, cocaine has the exact same mechanism but it potency is very high, thats why your on roll and high, getting in high conservation and euphoria. You usually get the sniffies when doing cocaine, that's well known because you blowing uo your nose and have the sniffles. That's one indicator one using

Amphetamines release dopamine and norepinephrine, they release them, and also moderate reuptake inhibitor, especially m-amphetamine. But yea your right, amphetamine, all classes, are neurotoxic, they wwear down your nueron sites, and deplete them. Like stepping on the accelotor of a car at maximum, and the car doesn't have hardly any oil, or reserves to pursue that kinda of speed. It wears the car down and you have to get it fixed.....and yes you are a bit crazy when on amphetamines, especially m-amphetamine on the street, these people you become obsessive and high and odd behavior. All during the stimulation. It makes you crazy basically, dopamine levels are so high your almost psychotic. I read not so much of that with cocaine, because its not releasing the dopamine, itso only blocking the terminals.

but still i don't know how they are different in their effect, only 30 min and then over with. With others lasting 12 hours. Not sure.

No, cocaine and methylphenidate (Ritalin) are approximately the same strength as dopamine and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors. Unlike methylphenidate, cocaine is also a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. The main reason for the difference between their highs is that cocaine is usually taken intranasally, or smoked or injected, so it has a faster onset than oral methylphenidate, which is key. Methylphenidate taken intravenously gives a high that is very similar to that of cocaine.
