Mirapex for Depression - experiences

Posted by rovers95 on January 29, 2020, at 9:43:14

I've just started taking mirapex for bipolar (2) depression. Up to 2mg now. Just wondering what people have found as a therapeutic dose...and now long it takes to kick in?

Thanks in advance

Dopamine is so sweet if you are not prone to psychosis.

For me pramipexole (Sifrol, Mirapex) kicked in almost immediately. It is the only drug that has helped for my anhedonia. I enjoyed real pleasure from watching movies, eating, and drinking. Colours were more vivid and music sounded almost sublime.

The effects didn't last. I did not try very high doses. Maybe I gave up on it too easily. The tolerance did not go away after taking a break from the drug.

Have you tried taking dopaminergics and increasing the dose of neuroleptics as needed? From what I've read, this works well with amphetamines, but I'm not sure about other dopaminergics.

There is no increasing neuroleptics at 800mg Seroquel and 25mg Zyprexa. Still get anxious at times.

i've read of some antidepressant effects, it does increase dopamine, but when its suddenly stopped heard people had stories of depression and sadness, due to no agonist of receptor

I had high hopes for pramipexole as I have severe TRD and seemingly respond best to dopaminergic medications. However I felt no response whatsoever that I could ascertain, I was pretty devastated.
