trintellix - will the anxiety it causes go away?

Posted by TriedEveryMedication on December 22, 2019, at 15:58:58

I was on lexapro, hated the sides. Tapered off completely for a couple weeks.

Now on 5mg trintellix, week 2. I do notice subtle cognitive improvements at work.

But fairly strong anxiety from this med.

I'm already GADish, this med is making it worse.

Also, anyone know if this med is any good for extreme rumination?

happy holidays everyone

I didn't and don't get anxiety from trintellix, so this does not exactly address your question. I also switched from Lexapro. Trintellix does not quell anxieties as well as Lexapro, but that effect on anxiety became the problem with Lexapro. Complete apathy. I have GAD for real and an AD alone was never enough for me. Lyrica was and is the only medication that helped my GAD. Moreso than xanax.

I take 20 mg Trintellix and 200 mg Lyrica and my anxiety is fairly under control, depending on the political news :)

Regrettably Lyrica makes my feet swell up and I found no way of dealing with that.

It was of real use.

Would mixing 5mg of Trintellix and 75mg of effexor be dangerous?

I know the two can lead to serotonin syndrome. But at a low dose?

Reason is I would like the anti-anxiety features of effexor and the cognitive boost of trintellix

I'd say generally not. But it depends on how sensitive you are to serotonin reuptake inhibition.

No. The dose makes the poison. Also, serotonin toxicity from reuptake inhibitors is usually mild and not life-threatening. Still, it may be prudent to have some cyproheptadine (Periactin) available as an "antidote".

I take Trintellix for bipolar depression. I had a bump in anxiety around the fourth week that has gone away.

I've found it very helpful for ruminations. Bad thoughts seem to slide right off me.

You'd be fine combining those doses. It takes a lot of serotonin reuptake inhibition to cause serotonin syndrome. Besides, Trintellix blocks a lot of serotonin receptors.

I have not had rumination so much on 10mg vortioxetine.. but I have had more anxiety that manifests as irritability and desire not to interact with people.
I did really well anxiety-wise on escitalopram at 20mg. but I felt zombified at that dose, it was like taking an antipsychotic and I had no irritability but I had zero desire to do anything.
