Adding AD to lamotrigine and ability?

Posted by rovers95 on October 24, 2019, at 23:53:46

Hi

Antidepressants make me unstable. I'm now taking lamictal 200mg and 2.5mg abilify. Should I have a different/calmer reaction to antidepressants this time around, even if it's the same one that has previously made me unstable (sans mood stabiliser)?

Many thanks

Main symptom depression - hypomania only when med induced.

id personally avoid an antidepressant that caused instability, but if the results were otherwise worthwhile, maybe something similar?

Me too. Especially since the meds you take don't really protect against mania in these dosages.

I'm on 200mg lamotrigine and 20mg trintellix. BPll. Couldn't make it w/o the AD, although I tried for a couple of years. No med induced hypomania. I need the lamotrigine to make it work.

Major symptoms depression and anxiety.

What does your doc say?

Hi.

1) In what ways did you become unstable? How do you describe this instability? Do you have bipolar disorder?

2) Which antidepressants caused this instability?

Actually the AD does feel a lot smoother for me with the lamotrigine and apiprazole...hope this persists :)

Yep bipolar 2 (or 3?!) - my hypomania is drug/sugar etc. induced.

Tricyclics, but SSRIs make me feel flat unfortunately.

I'm actually feeling better now on the AD with lamotrigine.
