Has anyone ever tried the ODT version of Lamictal/lamotrigine? ODT = Oral Disintegrating Tablets. Put it in your mouth and let it dissolve so the medicine gets into your system immediately vs. pills.
I searched here and am surprised I haven't found any threads about people taking this.
With the Teva lamotrigine discontinuation I'm trying to find the best alternative. I found a few people praising the ODT version and maybe since it bypasses the stomach/etc it would work better than the generic lamotrigine.
If anyone is taking it at the moment w/ good results please mention which generic manufacturer you're on. The one reddit post I found about it said good things about PAR brand.

Welp I'm trying it. Today was my first day (Par generic). Taste isn't too bad and it dissolves super quick. I definitely felt _something_ where I usually don't get any sorta kick/immediate feeling from lamictal pills.
They market it not as a sublingual but as just an easier way to take it (for people who can't swallow).
That said I'm sure a good portion is absorbed through the mouth.
I also read an interesting comment on another board about generic ODTs. The person suggested since they're much more "specialty" and require unique facilities to make them the quality control is probably higher. For ODT lamictal there are only 3 companies that make the generic. Luckily the Par pharma generic was the one a user on Reddit told me worked as well as the Teva generic.
I feel good tonight and have been busy on some work projects. Optimistic but I'll update.
