Facebook and Twitter settings

Im pissed that this site even incorperates that into this. Does this mean what you post here automatically goes to your facebook or twitter? Thats total bs I mean who really wants what you post about depression or anxiety to be on the front page or you fb or twitter? Is this on by default? I check my fb and nothing seems to be posted there from this site? How can I be sure this feature is off though?

Yes, many shared your sentiments way back when Dr. Bob introduced these buttons. Just search PB for FB or Twitter and I am sure you will find extensive discussions on the topic. He has his philosophy about a greater good, I guess. From the FAQ:

"With these buttons: [[ imagine fb SHARE and Twitter RETWEET buttons here - I can't copy them into a post]]...this site can (and by default does) make it easy to share posts on Facebook and to tweet them on Twitter. People on Facebook and Twitter can also benefit from support and education. Sharing and tweeting might lead them to the many thoughtful and intelligent posts here, and then they might join Babble and contribute new perspectives and energy. This is a setting posters can change."

>>Does this mean what you post here automatically goes to your facebook or twitter?

No. A poster has to affirmatively click one of the buttons.

>>Is this on by default?

Well, the buttons will appear beneath your posts by default unless you turn them off in your settings. Yours do not appear, so you turned them off.

>>How can I be sure this feature is off though?

See above. It is off **for you**as I can't see the buttons. But this is only for you, on your posts. Anyone can click the buttons and share their own posts/threads (which could contain your posts) or reTweet them if they or any poster has the buttons enabled. Nothing to be done about that. It was a bone of contention. But, this is a public site. Anyone, poster or not, has always been able to link to your posts and place that link anywhere they like online. The two buttons just make it easier, quicker for the two big social media communities. :-( I don't care for it, either.
