No one replied to my previous post asking about Prozac. No one here has been on it?

Ummm. I was for about six months. I didn't post because I don't have much to say. Didn't do much. I would use it to withdraw from a med maybe.

I took 20mg along with Wellbutrin and abilify. Then switched to pristiq for something stronger.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

I took it a long time ago. Didn't do anything for me. So I stoped it. I took celexa later on and had realy good results for 7 years.

Anyone here with long standing depression has probably been on it. It was released so long ago and I can't remember my response. I think I wa son it for a few years and then either Paxil, Zoloft or Effexor was the latest and greatest... Can't remember enough to give you any necessary insight. That began the round of taking every newly released AD, all of which were only marginally effective.

When new I think 87 took three days felt good at the time but tried. First day wallpapered a foyer, second day anxiety, third day shear panic and that was it. Took three days of xanax to get rid of constant panic so for me too stimulating. Phillipa

Many people do well on prozac. A long time top seller for a reason. Hope it treats you well.

I didn't see your previous post on prozac.

I was on prozac for about 8 years. My doc said he had some patients on other ssris, but that he had hundreds on prozac. Asked him why. He said because it works. For me it worked pretty good. Still had the ssri apathy thing, but not as bad as paxil or zoloft were. I like the warm stimulant feeling for a few hours after dosing.

Someone already mentioned it but I feel it is so important it deserved to be said again. Generic versus brand prozac, huge difference. Granted, some people can't tell a difference. Many can. I deteriorated when switched to generic. I didn't know I had been switched. It didn't feel anything like the real stuff.

For anyone giving prozac a shot, they have not done so until they've tried real brand prozac.

I took 20mg the whole time.

I find that 2.5 mgs increase motivation and interest in things. Anything above that flattened me out. I was also taking 5 mg buspar bid at the time. When I first took it though years ago it worked really well at 20mgs which was probably too high for me and must have caused a lot of changes in my brain.

I have. Its a wonderful medication if it works for you. It takes awhile to get the full effect because it takes nearly 6 weeks for a constant steady state. Back in the day when there was only Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft, I liked the Prozac better than the other two. It has a ton of indications (ie panic disorder, ocd, depression) and many off-label ones as well (add, social anxiety etc). If you are a big anxiety sufferer, you may need buspar and/or xanax for the startup.

look out for weight gain //the med is wonderful when it works //an you tend to get carried away on the food //suddenly your enjoying life again an food is an enjoyment//i was unaware of why my body has changeing //from being a 9 stone anxierty stick insect //i was soon 12 stone without trying///a combo of body slowing down with the med //an banging down the steak an chips//.but prozac the real one puts your head in a cool place

I tried it a long time and worked up to very high doses, but was basically non-responsive to it.

I'd be careful of high doses. At those I ground my teeth so badly that the tops folded over the spaces between them, so now I can no longer use normal dental floss.

High doses also frequently made me act out my dreams, which was terrible for my wife's sleep.

Hello amparo!

Welcome to Psycho-Babble! I'm glad the increase in prozac helped you! I'm on it too and I think it is helping me.
