I have been on Pristiq for about 2 months and it's working, but my liver enzymes started going up about the same time I started it, and are continuing to rise. I fear if I have to stop it there will be nothing left for me to try. I have been on just about all the tricyclics, SSRI's, SNRI's, and MAOI's you could name. I am also on some mood stablizers which I have been on for a long time. I hear Pristiq is the newest AD, but I must ask, is there anything newer out there?

Newest one I know of. I hope this doesn't mean that pristig effects the liver like efferor did. From what I've read that is. What does your doc say? Phillipa

My mom told me they recently came out with a drug for fibromyalgia which is similar to Pristiq except that it has more norepinephrine and less serotonin. I forgot what it is called though.

Probably milnacipran(Savella/Ixel), but it's not newer than Pristiq, but it was recently FDA approved for fibromyalgia.

There is a simple cheap effective alternative to try for about a month or two and see your enzymes come back down to normal. Add a high quality Milk Thistle extract, 3 times per day.
Seriously. Read about it. The liver could use an extra helping hand trying to process pharmaceuticals, and that's what Milk Thistle does. It has liver protecting, liver rejuvenating, and liver balancing actions.

Agomelatine/Valdoxan should be available in Europe soon and looks very promising.
Probably won't be available in the states until at least 2010 though :(

I take 9 dandelion root pills and 3 'extra strength' milkthistle ones everyday.(That's what it says on the bottle). This worked the last time I had liver problems, but hasn't helped yet. I have also decreased my ambien and seroquel doses before I get my next blood tests,even though I don't think these are the culprits. The less stuff I have going through my liver the better.I also have planned to stop my abilify,but I may not be able to taper this soon enough (before I might have to stop the Pristiq),to see if abilify might have an effect slowing down my liver enzymes. I'm getting them checked about every 3 weeks as my dr. orders.

you might try doing a search of either agomelatine or valdoxan as i know i've seen it on this board before.
is it that it is available in some other countries just not US yet? maybe?b2c.
