I've never heard of mirapex used for anxiety! Typically it is used for parkinsons and restless legs syndrome, but occasionaly for depression.

Are you suffering from depression too or just anxiety? If you are only suffereing from anxiety there are meds that may be more appropriate.

Just for anxiety? That is strange, I take ropinirole (very similar drug) for RLS. Which has helped with depression but it can make me a little anxious sometimes and nauseous too. INCREASE slowly or you might get rather ill like I did.

My husband has been on 1 mg. Mirapex for approximately 3 years. (He takes at bedtime for RLS.)

There is a lot of info out there in regards to the Mirapex possibly causing compulsive behaviours. I believe that my husband's current alcoholism might very well be attributed to the Mirapex he is on. He is also on Effexor .. which may be causing this problem too.

Just a warning though. I received a communication from a doc off of a RLS website. He indicated to me that even just the 1mg that my husband has been on, was quite a high daily dose for RLS.

Hi King,

Guess I had to find out the hard way to get at the truth... I also tried Mirapex a while back to see if it would improve my libido. It didn't do that and besides drove me crazy with enhanced anxiety... (the worst in my life).

So be careful.

My best,
Maria

I also find it different that they gave you Mirapex for anxiety; from all I have read on it, it tends to cause anxiety more than help it.

The latest commercial promoting it mentions that it can cause "increase urges for gambling and/or compulsive or wreckless behavior."

I thought, " yeah.. great. So folks won't have restless legs while they are up in the casino's all night long!"

keep us updated; I'd like to hear how it effects your anxiety.

I hope it does help.
