Rozerem (ramelteon) success [also taking EMSAM]

Posted by christophrejmc on July 17, 2006, at 2:31:25

I just wanted to report that Rozerem has worked wonderfully for my sleeping problems. Usually, I can't get to sleep before 3-4am and can never wake up before noon. Rozerem allows me to choose when I sleep and when I wake up, feeling rested no matter how many hours of sleep I had.

Sleep medications have been effective at getting me to sleep, but they all make me oversleep and leave me feeling groggy and drowsy in the morning. OTC melatonin has never done anything for me in the past and I don't think anyone with similar experience should write this off as a pharmaceutical melatonin; there seems to be a pronounced difference between the two.

I also should add that I'm currently taking EMSAM at 6mg which had made it much more difficult to fall asleep.

And yes, I am writing this at 3am. I don't have to be at school until tomorrow evening and I haven't taken my Rozerem, but perhaps this is an indication of how well it works for me. (Although I have gone several nights without it and there doesn't seem to be a problem with rebound insomnia.)

I only wish I had this when I was in highschool.

Thanks for posting a success story, Chris. (Is it Chris?)

At the American Psychiatric Association convention, one of the hugest displays and with the most salespeople in uniforms and giving away the most tchotchkes with logos was Rozerem. I'm glad to know it works!

I think Jakeman is away but that's what he takes with EMSAM and the last I talked to him it was working for him too. Love Phillipa

I just started taking it, because my physician prescribed it ( i havent seen my psychiatrist in like, a year...)

It seemed to work for me at first, but then after a few weeks seemed to not work so well.

Is it possible to will yourself awake even through medication?

I think even my body is stubborn... :(

I'd really like it to work, considering i've had this problem for so long (about 10 years...or sincve i was about 13), and taken so many things for it (antidepressants that make you sleepy - like trazadone & serequel, and sleep aids like ambien.)

IT seems that all meds i take wear off over a period of time...this has happened with nearly EVERY medication i have taken.
