Time for an honest discussion with your doc about the increasing tolerance your developing to the ritalin. If he doesn't know about addiction, find a doc who does. You can't keep increasing the dose.

Are you going to take 500mg a day in a month? Face the fact that you're probably going to have to find another solution, and also that treating addiction may also have to become part of your deal. I know its hard to believe, but it can be helpful...

First step is honesty with your prescribing physician about what is happening. How else can he/she be of any help? Keep in mind also that what you think you need may not really be what you actually need.

If you really start to crash hard and have suicidal thoughts because you can't get anymore, goto an ER and tell them the story.

You'll be okay in the end if you do what is right in your heart. Not what your fiending addiction is telling you to do.

I wonder if Clonodine would be a good option for you.

I hope your ok. a benzo might help with the anxiety and will calm your nerves. Hang in there until you can see your doc and talk to him honestly talk to him about what is going on.
Good luck

Thanks guys,

I was in rough shape for a couple days, BAD depression slowness, but feeling much better now, went to the Doc yesterday, and no go, il have to wait 2 weeks for more Ritalin, but thats ok, iv got some Valium, and not feeling like drinking. Codeine seems to help.

Feeling ok, I think il have the pharmacy give me repeats every 10 days cos i seem to have lowered control when i have all 200 ritalin at once, i kinda binge and run out.

alls ok at the moment.

Cheers all xx

Paulwell, You didn't answer my question from the substance abuse board. What did you mean by giving up beer for chloral hydrate? That was the pdocs idea. Fondly, Phillipa

No more than usual. I could swear it was you who wondered why I would switch from drinking beer to taking chloral hydrate. The poster didn't say they had. Just seemed to know something about it that I didn't. My pdoc had told me it was safe for babies and old folks. I remember the poster's name was not open to Babblemail just like your not and I wanted to Babble him to ask what he meant. I 'll try and go back to deleted items and find the Thread. Sorry Fondly, Phillipa

Doing great PBlers, i think im over the Ritalin withdrawal and on a good supplement programme
-Niacinamide
-Zinc picolinate, The best form, for Dopamine formation
-a good multivitamine
-coffee and nicotine gum (produces Dopamine) to help Dopamine production

Thanks for your support, feeling much better, and hope you all are too.

Cheers

Hi Paul. I think that is a great solution to only get so at one time from the pharmacy. Very wise decision. I hope your doctor was kind to you and didn't make you feel worse.

Hi Phillipa
I said it was a bad bargain to exchange beer for chloral hydrate. I only took one script of it. Another time going OS on a long flight with our 1 yr old we were given chloral by our doctor for the 24 hour flight. We gave the boy some but it didn't put him to sleep. He just stumbled up the aisle and became less charming. We realised it was us who needed to sleep so we took the rest of that. Can't you babblemail me? You did once. Do I have to do something?

Paul,

It may be worth trying Concerta instead of Ritalin. Much smoother as it wears off less dramatic after taking it.

I can also recommend vigorous exercise as an effective mood changer. It must be the endorphins. After an hour at the local
boxing gym I feel like Superman.
