I am on day 17 of 10mg lexapro. I already cannot have an orgasm! This SUCKS! Can anyone tell me if this side effect GOES AWAY! Or if it is more common than not...I thought it was not very common so I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with it.
Any help would be great! :)

This side effect seems to be the one that lasts.

I couldn't have one on 10 mg. of Lexapro, but I can on 5 mg. plus 37.5 mg. of Wellbutrin. These doses are really low, but I am managing pretty well with them plus psychotherapy.

When I started on 10mg of lex I had the same problem. After about a month my orgasms came back. Then I went to 20mg of Lex and again they faded away and came back after a month. I have also been on 300mg of Wellbutrin the whole time. So I am sure that helped a lot. I was really freaked out at first but was glad to find it wasn't permanent for me. Good luck.

I am on Lex 10 only (no Wellbutrin or anything else). The big "O" was a no show for about a month. But it did come back. My libido isn't what it was pre-Lex, but it's there. I've learned to appreciate the 2-3 I can muster a week.

i'm not on lex, but i take celexa and the main reason i switched from zoloft to celexa was b/c zoloft KILLED my libido and orgasms were impossible. i had heard that lex was supposed to be even better than celexa as far as side effects go, meaning there would be even fewer. i've been taking 300mg wellbutrin xl for about 3 years and i haven't had any problems with orgasms, but that could just be because i got off the zoloft. have you tried celexa?

WHOO HOO! I think my side effects are wearing off because mission was accomplished! haha - i know that is probably too much information, but needless to say I am happy it isn't a permanent effect as I have not had any problems with the lexapro and is has greatly decreased my anxiety!
Thanks everyone for all of your feedback. I still cannot get over what an awesome board this is. They need more for different types of issues!

>My experience observing a woman going through this is no. However she finds that using a small "vibrator" directly on the "spot" make things happen and work. Good luck!

I am glad to hear that Lexapro has helped you! I have been on it for about 3 weeks, and have started to get worried that I would feel this way forever! (my boyfriend is getting a little frustrated, as well) Seems like it takes me a lot longer to get turned on that it used to. (sorry for too much info...) Please tell me that I will get back to normal soon.

Hi Maisieann,
It took about a month for me to get back to normal, but I have also noticed that I am not as "quick" as I used to be! It isn't necessarily a bad thing though! :) I think that if you think about it too much, it might have an adverse effect, so go into it thinking positively and I think you might have a better outcome. A vibrator definitely helps move things along!
