My pdoc is switching me back to Xanax XR because the Klonopin did not work nearly as well as the Xanax.. However, she believes that 2mg daily of Xanax XR (only one dose a day in the morning) will be enough to cover me every day, for the full day. I thought it tends to wear off after 6 - 8 hours or so?

My doc prescribed me 1mg twice daily (every 12 hours) instead of 2mg once daily because he said in reality one dose daily does not work. It's a little more costly because you are buying 60 each 1mg pills for one month versus 30 each 2mg pills, but for me it was worth the extra expense because taking it twice daily avoided ups and downs.

Have you tried taking XR 1mg at bedtime and another 1mg 12 hours later?
