Boosting Thyroid activity??

Posted by NikkiT2 on July 17, 2004, at 9:33:38

is there any way to boost thyroid activity other than taking synthroid / thyroxin??

Mum's thyroid is deteriating alot at the moment (was nuked by radiotherapy after her mastectomy 15 years ago).. she's up to 150mg Thyroxine but its still not enough to control her thyroid to a good level.. she's getting depressed, fat, and so very vry tired.. she has tried higher doses of thyroxine, but they left her feeling wired and anxious and she didn't like that feeling at all...

Any ideas??

Ta,

Nikki x

7-keto DHEA has been proven to boost thyroid activity. Take that along with l-tyrosine and iodine and you mum should notice an increase in her thyroid production.

I really don't know very much about thyroid stuff. What about using T3 (Cytomel) along with the T4? There are websites all over the place devoted to thyroid disorders.

I agree with the above statement. Many times people who have unsuccessful therapy treatment with T4 respond well to T3.
