What is your diagnosis? Depression, or anxiety or both? SSRI's really arent the be all and end all.

strattera is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. I don't have many side effects from it, just a headache if I drink a lot of caffeine in the afternoon- I'm trying to study, so I drank some tea and now my back's tensing up and my head is hurting. Oh well. Not very serious as side effects go.

You could also try a TCA. They're also mostly norepinephrine meds- they'll also help you sleep. I'm taking both a TCA and Strattera, and have no unpleasant s/e except for the one I mentioned above. If serotonin meds haven't helped you, it's reasonable to try another approach. I think most people who can tolerate TCA's side effect wise find them effective meds.

Hello Fanni,
As another uk resident I can understand your feelings about our shrinks!
I am not sure why you want ssris as opposed to tcas or even maois which have both been proven safe and effective over the long haul, not something that can be said of prozac and friends, however remeron is Zispin over here, I tried it and it did nothing for me, but then bar a couple most have not.
I found it very tolerable more so than zoloft/sertraline/lustral or paxil/paroxetine/seroxat but that is just me!
I beleive strattera is atomoxetine a new ahdd medication, not one I would recommend just yet as it is very new and stimulating, but maybe you need that?
Cymbalta is duloxetine, not yet available but similar in action to Zispin.
I use celexa/citalopram/cipramil which is very related to lexapro/escitalopram but from what I have seen on here considerably milder!

I agree with the previous posters, give us a little more info about how you are suffering and I promise you the suggestions will abound.

Glenn

I took many medications over many years and none helped significantly until i tried Nardil.
Nardil is an MAOI and it has all but cured my Social Anxiety. Taking this med requires the restriction of certain foods (aged cheeses, wine, etc.) and the avoidance of certain medications.
There are lots of posts about it...check it out!
Good Luck
