My godddd..it's all there. I need med for all of these things. Is the only answer a "cocktail"? Seems to be, more and more, but I am deeply concerned about my weight, as I am getting close to EXTREMELY overweight. PLUS, no sex drive just makes me feel so down about myself, combined with my self image...ah damn it is a cycle. I am *only* 32...I should be still very 'active'in my sex life, but I don't even have the WILL!
Here is a lovely combo, one I am sure any doc would love to prescribe..lol.
1) A PStim that causes weight loss and libido increase.
2)A good benzo dose for anxiety
3)A garden variety mixture of a.d's.It is of course the first two I know I would have problems getting. I am sure it would take a few trials on a few different Pstims too.
Two meds that I have had *partial* response to are the cause of all this, those being Effexor XR and Zyprexa. Both are sex drive killers, and weight gainers. I had the same problems with Risperdal.
Any suggestions on how to handle the situation? I thought of adding high-dose Wellbutrin SR, but it doesn't seem very effective for many. Comments...pullleazzeee.:-)

If anxiety is your main problem, you could take a benzo when needed and stay away from the SSRIs [only Prozac does not cause weight gain in 70% OF it's users; IT DOES FOR OTHERS THOUGH]. If you only take the benzo [if you do not have an addictive personality] then you will be able to lose weight, have no sexual dysfunction, you won't be too tired to exercise [exercise before you take the benzo] which may help the depression. I take Xanax and a little Trazone at night for insomnia, and just got off Prozac after a year [no weight gain], but I took Paxil and a couple of others, and I feel the side effects outweigh the benefits. I am doing well now. I am 4 weeks off Prozac, weaned down and keep as low a stress level as possible. I now have emotional support. These things make it easier.......Try a benzo if you won't abuse them. You'll lose weight. Best wishes

Thanks Joy. I am looking into a few different possibilities. I *know* I have to get this weight off, as I am only 32, but if I stay like this, too much of a health risk. I will keep the board up to date on how/what I am doing/taking. Thanks so much again!Jay

I take 400 mg of Wellbutrin SR a day, 200mg am/pm.(I added Celexa when I kind of went into mouring about resigning from a job I was so disappointed in...corny, but true.)The Wellbutrin is great...I still take Xanax for anxiety attacks (totally no reason for them, but I am an uptight person...oh, well) So, the point is, high dose Wellbutrin SR isn't a problem for me. Jay, I know EXACTLY what you are going through. This is ENOUGH!! I have been on just about every med on the planet......this time around I am gaining alot of weight....My Shrik and I are trying me back on the Wellbutrin SR, in hopes of it knocking down or at least help me to deal with the side effects... Please keep posting....P.L.
