Geodon (ziprasidone) and Prozac (fluoxetine)

Posted by Rational on January 15, 2002, at 21:55:38

Is anyone here taking Geodon (ziprasidone) and fluoxetine together, or has anyone taken these two together? If you have, how is it working for you? Have you had any side effects, especially agitation and excessive activation or insomnia? How much Geodon and fluoxetine are you taking per day? And how long have you been taking it? Would you recommend this combination?

Thanks,

R

If you are taking it, I mean...not if you have. :)

Yes! And I am thrilled about the results. I have been on 40 mgs Geodon for several months now and can definately say this combo is perfect for me. I still take 25 mg of Prozac too. It works a bit subtly at first and it wasn't until AT LEAST two months past that I realized I was doing even better than at first. I have been able to diet ( successly)and have become a lot more motivated and organized in my life. My temper seems to be very much under control. I LOVE Geoden now!

Thanks for your reply. How about Zoloft (sertraline)? Anyone taking that with Geodon? Or Effexor (venlafaxine)? I am going to combine my Geodon with an antidepressant but I'm not sure which one. I worry that Prozac (fluoxetine) will be too activating and will make me restless, and that Effexor (venlafaxine) might do the same, although it does have the added benefit of norepinephrine reuptake blockage.

What antidepressant will work best in conjunction with ziprasidone and won't be too sedating, not dulling my emotions?
