BuSpar

Does anyone know anything about BuSpar? I just started it on Thursday, and I'm wondering how effective it is....

You might want to do a search on this board for previous posts on BuSpar. I think it can be a hit or miss type drug. That is, for those it works for, it seems to work pretty well, but for others, it seems to have pretty much no affect whatsoever. I happened to be in the latter group.

Good luck.

No positive results for me.. but everyone is different. Made me dizzy and nauseated and generally sick.

Buspar gave me the jitters. It didn't releive my anxiety at all. I'm not bothered by caffeine but in listening to others describe drinking way too much coffee, that's how it felt when I was on Buspar.

Buspar made me feel, when I was on it, the way SSRIs make me feel when I'm getting off them: brain shivers, electric shocks in the head/arms, dizzyness, etc. I was also taking Wellbutrin. The Buspar was supposed to counteract the Wellbutrin anxiety/irritibility (yeah right). So, I guess what I'm saying is that it might have been different without the Wellbutrin on board.

> I have the worst side effects to SSRI's... HORRIBLE.. I am so sensitive to meds.... so my doctor said BuSpar would be the ideal drug for me cuz its side effects are weak.. HAHAHAHHA.... BULL.... I felt sick... I was so weak.... ubevilably weak. I was in bed for 2 1/2 days... and guess what? I only took 1/4th of a 10 mg pill. I only took a tiny tiny piece. Nasty stuff!!!!! REMERON is the BEST!!!!! You should try it.

Well, so far I actually haven't had *any* side effects, but this is only day 5, so I guess I'll see how it goes. My doctor told me to call her after a week to see how I felt, so I'll update you all then, thank you for your responses!

i can't get over the "one man's poison..." effect with all these meds!
for me buspar is a god-send. until i started taking it i never realized
the extent of my anxiety. it was like i got used to having a high shrill
whine going on in my head and didn't know it until the buspar turned
it off.

i searched the boards here before i started (i'm a long time lurker) and was a
bit fearful of the side effects people had described. again proving that
depression is different in each one of us, i experienced NO side effects!
not even the ones i've come to expect when begining a new med, the
ones that eventually go away. nothing. nada. the only effect buspar has
for me is to turn off that anxiety like a switch.

keep at it. it did take a while to kick in.

It is amazing how a certain medication will work for one & be horrible for another. Shows just how unique each person's brain chemistry is! Buspar was my poison, adrafinil (Olmifon) is for me, like Buspar is for you. I want to hear so much other's experiences of adrafinil & Provigil - both good & bad.

Very glad that Buspar is the magic bullet for you! Life is hard enough to tackle without worrying about constant anxiety.

Thank you a lot for giving me some positive feedback about BuSpar! It's great to know that I'm not alone, and that it works for someone! How long did it take for you, for it to kick in? I'll let you know what happens, thanks
