Luvox/Klonopin-started today-help!

Posted by Buffet on November 23, 2000, at 2:16:34

I went to a fairly smart P'doc today and was diagnosed (again as in the past) with major depression/generalized anxiety/panic. Because of my trials with several antidepressants, he decided to try me on Luvox-50mg, and to switch me from 1.5mg xanax to 1.5mg- >2mg klonopin. I have searched through the old post and came up with, well, just about nothing that answers the questions and concerns I have with this new combo.

What will I expect from Luvox? I haven't been on an ssri for about 8 months, the previous drugs being prozac, paxil, zoloft-all poop outs.

I have had some sexual disfunctions on my xanax/elavil combo. Will the luvox help or hinder?

I need relief from the depression soon or I am going to go crazy, so has anyone had a dramatic mood lifting from this drug, or in general is it a waste of time?

When starting prozac and zoloft, I could tell within two weeks that they were definitely working. Paxil only made me tired and worsened my condition. How does Luvox compare with the other ssris?

And on a final note, 1.5mg xanax is equivilant to ??mg klonopin, length of drug action set aside.?

Thanks ya'll for your support and knowledge. I need to get my brain functioning again and will be greatful for any info, especially on the Luvox.

Let me just ask a more simple question. Who has been on, or is now taking Luvox, and have you had success with it? It's day four and can't quite tell yet. Please, some help me out here.

Buffet;

I've no personal experience with Luvox. It's profile is somewhat similar to Prozac's. I've read that because a certain enzyme (CYP450 1A2) is inhibited by Luvox, that one should avoid caffeine, because of the potential risk of seizures.
Also do not take Luvox with if you are also taking Cisapride (Propulsid) or Astemizole (Hismanal).

I have absolutely nothing to add, but wanted to let you know that your messages are being read, even if we don't the info you really need right now.

I give you my best wishes and thoughts. If I find anything informative I will send it your way.

Hello:
Just want to say that I'm also waiting to read some experiences with Luvox. I have tried all the other SSRI's except for Luvox.
Let us know how you are doing.

I wish you all the best on this combo.
If I get any info. on Luvox, I will pass it on.

Day six...

Still haven't noticed an increase in mood. I am becoming more indifferent to things. That usually happens on SSRIs, so maybe it's doing something. I haven't noticed a mood elevation yet, just flattening. hmmmmmm : |.

Eric Harris was on Luvox. Just great. : )
