ODE to John Denver

Posted by WaterSapphire on August 25, 2008, at 6:33:17

When I was little
My mom would play
Your records
And your words and music became ingrained in my heart
They followed me through life, through Love and turmoil
Through transitions and loneliness
All the way to the Rockies
And back home again
The year you passed
I cried when I heard the news
But I see you flying again
This time with real wings
Given to you from afar...
You will always fill up my senses
Like a sleepy Blue Ocean
Like a mountain in SpringTime
Like a walk in the rain...

That song is a classic and it stirs up so much pain I can hardly listen to it, although I don't know why. You fill up my senses ... he must have truly enjoyed the world of nature.
Is there a good book about him?

Yes, it can stir up pain for some...especially in the case of love. HUGS Susan...
I don't know if there is a book about him. I will have to check that out and get back to you. However, there was a special about him on TV, but I cannot remember if it was on PBS or some cable station. It was really really awesome. I will miss John Denver. I hope is he up with Steve Irwin playing music while Steve Irwin is wrestling crocs. :)

Yes, I hope they're together too. They were both heroes in their way, and they both loved this world of nature. It's so important for every person who can, who feels cut off from life, to be outdoors, loving what is here, what is beautiful, the sunset, the sky, the earth, everything we're given. So many beautiful animals too, and that's the saddest story. Even sadder than what humans do to each other, is what humans do to animals.

Animals are so innocent....and we should cherish
them. It is horrible sometimes the things I have seen what people have done on the news or even read it online or in the paper. Animals also did not ask for their habitat to be decreased or their food and water sources to be diminished....
