a little sweetness poem

Posted by jai narayan on July 21, 2008, at 22:31:36

a little smile
as I fade
to last a while
in the shade
of your grin
from the start
alas you win
all my heart

I hope everything in your life is as positive as your poem, jai.

Pretty good Susan. Just got back from 10 days at the lake house in upper Wisconsin. So old now that one trip around the lake on a slalom waterski makes me sore for a week. Everything is pretty cool with the kids so that makes life good for me. My son is a salesman in Chicago. My youngest daughter has a new apartment in Wicker Park, a trendy part of the Windy City, while she works as a legal assistant. And Sarah just landed a second grade teaching position in a northern suburb. I hope this works out because I can't go through all the angst another fall.

Thanks for asking.

Sounds like your daughter Sarah came through it all very well though, Toph. She learned a lot from her first year as a teacher, and it sounds like the children she taught last year would have benefitted from having her as a teacher. What you said really threw a new light on things though. I am so ignorant of the way people treat each other, the way they're cruel without even thinking about it, unkind and unfair and I know I'm a people too and that really bugs me.
I'm sure Sarah won't do to anyone else what they did to her last year, and that in itself is the biggest gift, the pain itself can be a gift, really, it just has to be accepted for the lessons it taught. (sigh).
