Monumental Rubblw
multicolored granite monument
once engraved with the words self esteem
the years have not treated it gently
scratched and gouged
the letters scraped off
one by one
years turned to decades
half a century later
a faint f remains
no purpose without the rest
open to interpretation
fate?
fright?
fortune?
failure?
such is what is left
of a monument built
and destroyed by its creator
