I hated school

Shy boy
Sitting in the last row
Lost among the precociously bright
And the genetic giants

Bullies, long division, reading out loud

I hated school

Today I shuddered
Revisiting youth's torture chamber
Entering my daughter's 1st grade classroom

Shy Dad
Sitting in the back row
Astonished
Watching her teach
