I Can't Help Her

Posted by WorryGirl on May 7, 2007, at 20:08:23

I CAN’T HELP HER

She looks like the shadow of death…
So gray, faint and subdued
Gone is any trace of attitude

She used to have it all…
Pretty boys with their proposals
Always at her disposal

She had too much of the wrong…
Even lots of the right
Still she kept losing sight

Saying yes to Mr. Wrong
Because the Rights were so boring
Couldn’t stand all that adoring

Because her sweet dreams
Got crushed in young girlhood
Good could never mean good

Then her baby girl was born
And reaching out was a chance
To retry this crazy dance

Little baby, so happy and sweet
It rubbed off on her, you see
Life was what they said it’d be

‘Til she was gone in an instant…
And with her went love and grace
They’d always been in her face

Now she has nothing
Except the hope that one day
The Good Man will make it okay

Hanging on by that thread
Eroded by self-inflicted pain
And Mr. Wrong beating her again

Baby sister, it’s not up to me
I can’t save you or make you see
There’s happiness beyond eternity

...so affected by this wg (nm)
