It's one of the more engaging parts of the dictionary...ellipse, ellipsis, ellipsoid, ellipsoidal, elliptical, elliptically.

One of these words is out of place...which one?

Meant that as a joke not a threat kk, Tank is an obvious embarrassment to our team. I was just feeling the pressure of having to face a superior quarterback and the thought that this may be my last shot at a title in my lifetime. Plus, I get a little touchy working in Packer country. Anyway, let's hope its a good game and may the best team win.

whoops, this is for toph.....

i'm sorry for any misunderstanding. i'm kinda feeling a bit nutty lately (ha! a bit?).

i'm almost thinking the colts will lay down and die under the pressure (as they seem to do every year prior to this one.) seems we get so close every year and then it comes down to the last game and poof, we f*rt out. and i just know f*rt won't show up. so, ok, we poopie out!!

and, i jsut love having images of the shuffle in my head. do you remember the skit from snl of the superbowl shuffle? with tracey morgan (me thinks????) saying 'i'm jsut here to do the superbowl shuffle' eating a bucket of chicken from kfc? he was playing the fridge..

i was just kidding around hun. i hope i didn't seem to snap at you. i've been bad at doing that lately. however, i can promise, when i snap, making up is the best part :)

have a lovely day and yes, may the best team win....

and that last game was awesome! call the colts the comeback team or something. guess indiana's known for that. maybe another 'rudy' movie or somehting.

sorry folks for interrupting this thread with the colts, but i'm so very excited. not since baltimore! go colts! i drive around honking my horn all day long!!!! go blue!!

Declan,
I'm American, yet I'm not fluent in Super Bowl.

I'll try my best. I know that KK and Toph will correct the noodle's incorrectitudes.

shuffle = superbowl shuffle = may the one with the least traumatic brain injury derived Parkinson's symptoms show off their proud shuffles

wardrobe malfunction = the best nipple ornamentation ever seen. Janet Jackson as sherrif of Nipple-town and Deputy Justin Timberlake allows her to show her badge: the highlight of my SuperBowl viewing experience of all times

mild indifference = the Quarterback QB of the Colts lead University of Tennessee to national glory. Seeing as how I used to hate the color orange (living near UT as a wee one) and the traffic of the then-largest-stadium-in-the-world as it descended on Knoxville once declared the ugliest city in America, I feel somewhat loyal to Peyton Manning. Especially since he moved to Indy.

Yet, I feel some mild loathing towards the enterprise of the Chicago Bears. The fans are certainly dressed in puffy parkas. The superlatives don't end there. This organization used financial objectives to "modernize" a field that was dedicated to the U.S.A Soldiers who died in war. A war memorial. The modernization has led to a stadium in which the prettiest views are obtained by the elite, whose boxes occupy half the circumference of this edifice that has been stripped of landmark status and has been nicknamed the [crash landed] flying saucer.

In all honesty, I feel a certain civic pride towards peyton manning but also a certain civic pride towards the Chicago Bears. The enthusiasm is contagious, I suppose. If one can "catch" one of those hundred dollar+ coughs that pay for the plebians of this great city to enjoy their home team.

and they have done an awful lot in one year.

I hope that sorted out the cultural terms that get lost in translation between rugby, football, soccer and football.

modern gladiators?

let she who is without sin cast the first stone.

I'm SO gonna get a PBC for this post. I can hardly wait. come on Dr. Bob. gimme a frickin' PBC. I'm getting "heated" and "political". Heckola-- gimme a friggin block. I'm feeling kinda self-injurious. That block would go a LONG ways towards satisfying my self-loathing and desire for punishment. oh YEAH!

sorry above for DECLAN (nm)

Please be sensitive to the feelings of Americans?

I shall read your post with interest.

But I have a bit of a problem with sport. I know Australians play it.

First thing with the Saturday papers...throw out the 'Sport' and 'Drive'.

Llurse, I read with interest the maturation of your loyalties. Oh, and since you have joined the Super Bowl discussion, I assume you don't mind the hyjack. For Bob et al, consider this PB writing prose.

I don't begrudge others their allegences or their distain for the City of Big Shoulders. All I know is for some reason, not unlike the cathartic revenge many feel with an execution, I get vicarious, orgasmic elation from the success of my team, from the city of my birth, the region of my education - both cerebral and carnal, the land of my marriage and birthplace of my progeny, the region of my career, the air of my first breath and likely my last, the home of the Bears.

Whether you associate this part of the world with the brutality of Al Capone, the courage of Clarence Darrow, the vision of Frank Lloyd Wright, the compassion of a Jane Addams, the imagination of a Walt Disney, or the strong images of Ernest Hemmingway, I hope, for me and for this weekend anyway, we will be associatiing this great city with the World Champion Chicago Bears.

(((((Toph))))))

hope you didn't take it too hard. I knew when they didn't win, 'cause I live in a fairly dense neighborhood, and I didn't hear any whooping and hollering.

I didn't watch the game. I spent the afternoon in the quiet calm of the local hardware merchants, finding a mat so my rug wouldn't slip.

and no, no bother to interrupt my thread. I don't even remember what it was about, nor do I care to look.

next year?
