The "dot" crystallizes from hot carbon-rich fluids. This crystallization requires tremendous heat and pressure—1000 to 1200°C (1800 to 2200°F) of heat and 50 kilobars of pressure. (One bar is based on the pressure the atmosphere exerts at sea level, about 1.02 kg per sq cm, or 14.7 lb per sq in; 50 kilobars is 50,000 bars.) The pressures and temperatures at which it naturally forms only occur deep underground. Scientists believe that it forms at depths greater than 150 km (93 mi), and there is evidence that it forms as deep as 670 km (420 mi) beneath Earth’s surface.

Wow curtm,
so, you mean that my experience of the 'dot' is probably an illusion, as I have not been in an extremely hot or pressured environment?Basically, you're saying that the only place where the dot can form is in He#l?
Maybe I've been there, after all?
And back again.

p.s. is this curt, or curt's inner geek speaking?

No what I am saying is that we hide deep inside ourselves, under constant pressure for a very long time. Then someone comes and pulls us out, helps form us and polishes us into a beautiful shiny diamond.

awww.
that's nice.
I like that.certainly nicer to think of a diamond in my heart than anxiety induced angina.
I finished proofeading.
Can I just say, how inconsiderate it is, that I give my boss a paper for her to read, and she takes nearly 4 weeks to give me corrections, and then gives it back to me, for me to make MY corrections, and says, I'd like to have it tomorrow, early afternoon. Less than 24 hrs.
(could THIS be why I'm in a pissy mood? Very likely. I'm sleep-deprived too)
I think it's playtime again.
;-)
This is the end of the thread.
