Read the FAQs about civility, and maybe get a civility buddy if you have any questions whether what you want to post is within the guidelines or not.
I'd be happy to help you, or you can babblemail or email any of the deputies. It's a minefield, I agree; but it's also a challenge to learn how to express ourselves without causing distress to others.
I try to remember that what I post is being read by many more people than the individual to whom I'm responding. How would you express yourself if you were with a group of people, none of whom you know well, and who have an enormous diversity of backgrounds and opinions? Would you say something that could offend someone, or would you chose your words so that your view is expressed, but with consideration for the people who are listening?

Hunter S. Thompson's trick for writer's block...

...

It was to type out the Great Gatsby. At some point (anyone who uses this method knows it works this way) when you do this, eventually it'll lead you to some thought to form of some kind, creative or non-fiction or whatever the heck you need to write, simply by forcing you into the thought process and habituation of writing.

Anyhow, it beats staring at a keyboard, or Googling away the day. ;)

What I like to do, to make it fun, is type out song lyrics as they play. Eventually, I begin to write whatever I'm suppose to be writing, plus I got to enjoy a good song.

But then I switch to some POP Classical, like tribute to a band I like, so I don't get distracted by the lyrics and yet helped out by the music to not over-focus and get writer's block.

hope it helps for u =)
