falling

It's happening
once again
this slipping
falling
nothing to hold onto
to stop or slow my fall
nowhere to go
but down
And I told her today
how I was going down
hoping
desperately hoping
that she would toss me a rope
or point out something to grab onto
but no
I got nothing
I don't want to go through this
again
all alone
It's not fair
I thought she was supposed to be there to help
