Another bad attempt at a poem for class, experimenting with other styles.
Standing upon the corner of the street
Tattered sign held silently in the air
Asking for help but none appear to care
Boiling in silent misery from the summer heat
Nature twisted throughout tangled hair
Covering fantasies of becoming ‘the elite’
That he has already accepted defeat
Is written within his wintry glareSo many like him, alone and lost
Without the means to pay the cost
Endlessly chasing after an illusory role
Losing control of both life and soul
Left with nothing but failure it would seem
Hopelessly chasing the American Dream
