Can You See Me?
Do you see through me?
Do you see the real me?
Do you know only the me on the outside?
Or have you seen a glimpse of the hidden?
Do you know the night?
Have you seen the darkness falling?
Have you seen the fight?
Or have you seen only the light?
Do you know there's two of me?
Which one have you made an acquaintance with?
Are you one of the few?
Or are you one of the public?
Do you see me smile?
Do you see the smile?
Or do you see through the smile?
Do you know the feeling of a broken heart?
Do you know the feeling of despair?
Do you know the feeling of anger?
Do you feel the ache of loss?
Have you felt the pain of confusion?
Have you felt the struggle of indecision?
Have you felt the void of emptiness?
Have you felt the worthless hope?
Have you shaken the hand of death?

I worry about the 'hidden me' as well...
Worry that people will see me
Really see me
And turn away in disgust or contempt or indifference
