What do I make of the past? (a ramble)

Posted by PM80 on March 28, 2005, at 16:13:53

What do I make of the past?
These ghosts in my head make war of memories
that are pristine
that stupidly pulse with niave banter.
Nothing makes sense from altered perspectives.
Innocent growth decays into formulaic thinking
setting our world spinning in its orbit.
Open my eyes
Disillusionment replaces foolish paradigm
I am falling through the ripening cracks
spaces between sense and the senseless
gaping maniacally open with ridiculous candor.
The good and the bad are one and the same
a coin with two heads cannot draw a tail between its legs
And I race in the void
created by a monster without face or name.
I cannot fight my own neurons
sparking the splendid reaction of expanding spheres.
What was not real is made forever solid
a cold silver surface apathetically reflecting the angles of fact
oblivious history given reign to illuminate the universe.
A finger left burning on a light bulb under a pretty lampshade
is pain in the mind of the victim.

I love the way you express yourself, your "ramble"--as you call it--is stirring, admirable, and lucidly prosaic. I enjoy your writing so very much, I even copy your poems to share with my husband because they speak to me and of me so much. I'm sorry that there is so much pain and struggle, I wish the profound writing was fruit from a stable, healthy and pleasant existence, how often it is not....

Thank you so much for sharing!

I don't know what to say. I don't always feel that my writing makes sense to anyone else. Thanks.
