Confusion

Posted by Damos on February 10, 2005, at 21:28:48

When up is down
And in is out
When round is really square
I wonder if
I'm really here
And whether here is there

So here I am
But where is here
And then again who am I
At times I'm me
But often you
And yes, sometimes even I

But if I is both
You and me
I wonder who is they
Since them is us
And they are those
Just who the hell are we?

Language, eh?
Either we do funny things with it
Or it does funny things with us
Or both.

Thanks for the poem :-)

Thanks for your post. This is my first venture into the public eye - and a very timid one at that =0). Wrote this in '77 and it's finally seen the light of day! I come from the land 'down under' and so have a fairly healthy sense of irreverence for most things, and have to admit to a keen interest in the use, abuse and occasional butchery of the English language.

Thanks again for posting, who knows, it might just encourage another bout of bravery.

AAAAAAAAAAah, an Aussie, eh?
I am a Kiwi :-)

I keep telling them that it is they who are upside down, but I don't think they believe me.

You're forgiven =0). Here's a newy; well a less old one anyway.

News Flash

And in news just breaking, we're crossing live to Paul Marshall in the 7 News helicopter.
Are you there Paul?
Yes, thanks Chris. As you can see we're now passing over the site of the accident
Word just in from investigators at the scene, suggests that a major design flaw
Or catastrophic failure has caused this young mans life to derail
And plough into a crowd of innocent bystanders.
As you can see more than a dozen carriages have left the tracks
And now lie buckled and broken, like some great wounded animal.
The tracks twisted and broken, like so much steel spaghetti,
Will take months if not years to repair.
A fleet of ambulances are ferrying the dead and injured to nearby hospitals,
And emergency services are beginning the grim task of searching the wreckage for survivers.
Deliberate act or unfortunate accident
Is the question on everyones minds.
The truth my never be known.

Well my Effexor withdrawal aint going so good today.....so don't say I didn't warn you. This one's moments old and called GRRRRR.

Whataya lookin' at?
Don't look at me like that!
Better still,
Don't look at me at all!!!!!!!
I can't even look at myself in a mirror,
So what gives you the right?
And don't go tellin' me to
"Go get a life"
You superficial p....
Why don't you just take
Your sweetness and light
And carefully crafted smile
And shove them up your a....
Didn't Buddha say,
"All life is suffering"?
Cause then I'm right on f'ing track!
And as for that inalienable right
To the "pursuit of happiness"
An absence of abject misery
Would do me just fine for now!

Have a go Jiggitykid, it's scary but good.

Thanks dancingstar, I was all over the place like a mad dogs breakfast yesterday. Ended up giving myself the choice of post and pray or go play with the traffic - chose post and pray. Worked too, being terrified what people would think took my mind off being miserable (partly anyway) =0). Finally slept some last night and feeling a bit brighter today.

Take care hey!

Hi Damos,

I just wrote pretty much the same thing to someone else...but I stopped taking Effexor in September, and if you track my posts from "anyone have success on effexor," or whatever that one is called, you can see that I wrote tons and tons and tons :-) on the the subject....

It looks like we will finally have the help we need as we should not have had to go through this pain. I'm not sure if it will work for you in your part of the world, but I can sure try to find out if you'd like. I'm pretty sure that I will be able to help people in England...but I'm not at all positive. Please read my old posts to see how I got to where I am now if you have the patience to. k?

Bebe

Hey there Jiggitykid,

Got a title for your book. In recognition of your high dive in to the empty pool, I thought "Humpty was a Wuss!" would be good.

Hope you're doin' okay.

I LOVE that!!!! If I get that book out, I'll dedicate it to you!

I hope your day is better today. I saw on another post that yesterday was better than the day before. That's encouraging. Battling a migraine here, first one in several months, but not incapacitating. Hang in there!

Glad you liked it. Boy do I feel special now or what!!!!!! If that happens I really will need a 'head shrinker'.

I'm thinking buying 20 CDs in 2 days isn't exactly normal - but who cares =0) The last few days have been emotional big wave surfing, and today apart form being ulta super hyper I seem otherwise okay. When I posted the crankygram I was swinging between feeling like a sheet of glass in a hailstorm and a landmine!

Actually read 12 pages of a book last night Woo Hoo!!!!!! So things are definitely looking up. Sorry to hear your brain aches today. It'd be so nice if you just take it out and put in a jar by the bed occassionally when you need a break. I just remembered I read a book once that was Jack Kerouac's life told through his correspondence with people. Maybe you could tell your story in a series of letters to a friend.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I've wondered myself for a long time how to tell a long and complicated story...I've got one to tell; but however I do it, it will definitely be written under a pseudonym. There is a name that I used that only a few people know is me, and that one would be a good choice for that kind of thing if I can ever figure out in what context to write the darn thing.

Maybe even a screenplay...just for fun.
