What could compel
One to shatter a blue glass bottle
Scoop up the shards
And swallow them whole? Why would the artist
Burn his painted canvases
In a great smoldering heap
On a cold winter’s night? For lives are to be lived
Dreams to be fulfilledYet here I ponder
I doubt
And feel a longing
To return to insanityTo conjure up
The white faces
That mock my feeble efforts
At living the life dreamedWithin insanity lies
An alternate world
Where obsession can take hold
And write with its own authorityBut the scripts
Written in a frenzy
Though they may be extravagant
Only bring sufferingThe real world
Dull though it may seem
Holds the truth
Which must be facedSM

The real world holds depression.
I've found there's no depression in my own insanity.
My insanity is transporting.
Maybe that's why I courted it so much last year.
