Cloud of Steel

Posted by Bent on January 31, 2005, at 20:56:58

(perhaps this is about dissociating...)

There is this cloud that you cannot see.
It is grey with white spots and its softness holds me.

It keeps me in and all others out.
Its only job to protect, this I know without a doubt.

The grey walls are wide. The protection is thick.
Without freedom to move or think, this cloud only makes me sick.

You can try to reach in, but you cannot touch me.
You cannot penetrate my cloud; you can’t help me get free.

I sometimes think the cloud is made of steel.
It holds me so tight, I can’t always breathe and I can never feel.

It steals my ability to need, hurt, or grieve
Or maybe that’s what I want you to believe.

Alone in the cloud I am left with thoughts that distress and don’t agree.
I never knew being alone with only my thoughts was such a scary place to be.

you carried me there.
I felt what you were saying.
I know how scary it feels
excellent poem.
dear bent...
it's strange to say but you are not alone...
I have been there...it's a place I know well.

Yeah.

You describe it well.
Soft yet suffocating.
Mixed blessings, eh?
