I am not much on poetry.. nor do I consider myself a writer, by any stretch. However, I think there is something to be said for writing during some of your worst times. In my case, when reliving dificult memories that have left a mark not only on my personality, but have also influenced my life all these years later.
As I have stated before on this site, being a newbie, not to mention somewhat, if not totally anonymous, has it's advantages. I can write, and not be concerned with any stigma in my everyday life. Bad Poetry Ahead.. consider yourself warned..
The childhood memories are so intense
Trading in your innocence
For grownup things you did not know
and grownup places you were forced to goAll the pain you had to feel
All the suffering that will not heal
All the fears you had to hide
All the tears you kept insideIs it worth it now when you're alone
to know the things you could have shown
might have freed you from the pain
cleared your mind and kept you saneAre you proud you "did the right thing"
Did someone praise you, make you a king
or did they ignore your sacrifice
and leave you alone to pay the priceIf you told them now, would they even see
how they left that child alone to bleed
or would they stand without a clue
The child they left turned out to be you© I'm Broken 2004

Hi Broken:
I really like your poem. I'm going through a bit of faith renewal although at the moment it is hard for me to find comfort.
"Are you proud you "did the right thing"
Did someone praise you, make you a king
or did they ignore your sacrifice
and leave you alone to pay the price"But your poem reminds me of something that is making me feel better.

>Malthus,
Thankyou for this note. Like I said, I use writing as my own therapy, and it's really wild for me to think I wrote something that made someone else "feel" anything, much less helped make them feel a little better. I believe that is the nicest thing I have ever been told about writing. Thankyou again...

Hiya. Thank you for sharing that. I found it really moving. It is something that I can relate to. Hey, just in case you didn't know - there is a writing board here. This is a link to it.

If you post stuff over there then you retain copyrite. Dr Bob won't use it / reproduce it without your consent. Other people like to write as well. Writing can be theraputic, eh?

Ahh, no I was not aware of it.. thankyou for that, perhaps Dr. Bob can redirect that for me then.
But yes, writing is a help sometimes.. I keep a blog, it's 99 percent unvisited, but it let's me write without annoying anyone, and still keep up with my thoughts.

He could, or you could repost it yourself. Just cut and paste it into a box on the other board.

:-)
I write something resembling poems sometimes.
I wish I was more creative.
I shall look foward to your contributions to the writing board.

That's heartbreaking. And well expressed.
