Atticus my six foot sea anemone in black leather and steel toed boots
I see you perching on the side of a rocky out cropping
in our salty emerald iridescent pool
overlooking the hot pink, ocher yellow and pale peach coral
butterfly fish glide past us as your many deep sapphire arms
pull in tasty bits of black algae
the clown trigger fish has a long face
as she wiggles past you
a hush falls over the happy neon's
the Queens Angel fish has finally arrived
I pull away from the Aquarian and look out my living room window
at the snow flakes dancing through the cold night air
christmas lights illuminate the streets
blinking red and green
my nose is filled with the embers of the burned Wilder building
every holiday is unique

Hi Jai,
I like the pensive, hushed mood of this piece and the rich, vivid description. The contrast of the cozy fish tank with the burned-out building across the way from your flat. (I guess I have the right hairstyle for an anemone, though some might see more of a sea urchin look. ;) ) Thanks for this sweet gift. I'm very touched. Atticus, who promises not to sting you
