Some thoughts

Posted by alexandra_k on December 13, 2004, at 7:15:47

Well just in case I don't get to post for a while I thought I'd just get it out.

I agree with Atticus about the @ss thing. When you asked us not to say that I thought 'yeah well its not that hard to refrain'. And so I thought that Susan had got in into her mind to be a bit stubborn and so I could see why you blocked her. But then you backed down to something like a comprimise by reducing her block by half - which is fine. But I agree with Atticus that an apology or at least an explanation would have been nice. Apologising doesn't mean that people respect you any the less you know, and it may well be the case that a lot of people respect you even more.

Was the stuff about the democracy supposed to apply just to the appointment of deputies? So is the way it works currently that you ask 'anyone anyone want to volounteer' but really you have a little list in mind of people who you want to volounteer and if other people offer to help then you just ignore them? Is that the present situation?

Yes Dr Bob you can be stubborn. When everyone agrees (except you) and nobody disagrees (except you) about certain things like lifting the posting restriction on the students board and letting us block ourselves. And yes that hacks me off at times and that is probably why I do find it funny when people get their little digs in every now and then.

That being said, I thought the book of bob idea was funny. And I guess that I did think that you might find it amusing. But, yes I guess that there is the point that we really don't know very much about you at all, how sensitive you are to stuff like that or anything. Sometimes you come across as fairly immune to certain stuff and so I guess that encourages the idea that stuff like that will just roll off your back. But anyway, I meant no offence by my contribution. Just in case you took offence. I like the way you say Thanks! I had even started doing it myself. But then it occured to me that I hadn't seen you do that since I posted that so if that hurt a bit, or if you took it personally or whatever then I am sorry.

But back to this democracy idea. I don't understand why you just ignore what we have to say and go on your merry way when we all agree - but you don't. And you don't even provide good reasons.

So I do think that people get annoyed with you about some stuff. But I don't think that we take that out on other people. Just you. Lucky you aye.

Anyway I forgot to say that with the @ss think it really doesn't seem to offend anyone (not even you), well unless you include Mirriam Webster (and that is only sometimes). I don't understand why you couldn't just ask 'anyone find that word offensive?' and then if nobody does let us say it. I mean, some people have a bit of a war on that one and your being stubborn about it doesn't prove leader member relations best I can figure. If someone new comes and they are offended then you can always revise the situation at that point. Anyways, enough already
