Dig It
Dig it as the multi-platinum,
Shock-and-awe and flatten ’em,
Saks Fifth Avenue Manhattan ’em,
Prized Super-Size and fatten’ em,
Orwell-prophesized go rat on ’em,
Dapper fat cat go top hat on ’em,
Grab police batons and bat on ’em,
Ignored the poor and spat on ’em,
Take away the welcome mat on ’em,
Make war not love and Patton ’em,
Elasticize lies to silk and satin ’em,
Red and blue states trade tit-for-tat on ’em,
Boil the oil and dump the vat on ’em
Nation stamps on brain cells that go splat on ’em.

Coltrane's playing at the Village Vanguard. That's one hip lip. Let's grab the girls and go, daddio. ;) Atticus

atticus, bravissime! you creative cat you..i sometimes wonder where you get your ideas. i know you're worldly and get around a lot, but i don't think that explains it. care to share?
anyway, this poem is the bomb..on a side note, this rhythm kinda reminds me of eminem's music. maybe you should write lyrics for rappers! they'd love to get their hands on this trippy sh$t. very nice. :-)

Hi Amy,
Actually, you're spot on with the pseudo hip-hip rhythm that I seem to have fallen into. It used to be that imagery drove my poems, but now I'm fascinated with sound. To check the rhythm, I read them to myself really fast in a voice that's almost a whisper. That's because I can't vocalize my own stuff as fast and as cleanly as I'd like to with my voice at full volume. Too many internal rhymes. I'd need a good rapper to stand in for me at a reading. Stay cool, mama. ;) Atticus
