Why not get others to kick you instead?

Posted by alexandra_k on October 26, 2004, at 0:04:41

Don't try to kick yourself
You'll fall over.
A dig here, a dig there
And others will kick you happily enough.

Today is one of those days.
Woke up in agony with a sore tooth.
Had to cancel dental appointment becuase my ride fell through.
Got myself into a right state
Then went in to see my psychiatrist.

Today is one of those days.

Is it fair
Is it fair
To apply to do something
To put my best case foward
To try to get chosen over others
When theres a good chance I'll not complete.

Is it fair
To agree to do things
When there is a good chance I cannot
If it fair
To apply to do things
When there is a good case that I should not.

Today has been one of those days.
And this is not really a poem, but I had to put it somewhere.
I am sorry for all of my posts today
(go on kick me please)
PBC
a_k9
grumpy
antagonistic
sorry.
Genuinely hope I haven't caused offence
(know I probably have)
I never intend to hurt - I promise.

Today is one of those days.

this could be a prose poem....possibly?
well I liked it and think you are brilliant and wonderful.
I totally encourage you to apply and I hope you win.
Let's take it one step at a time?
at any point you can always call it off.
You have that right.
I will do whatever I can to support you through this....
I appreciate you and your lovely mind so much.
Jai

oh Jai, you are quite possibly the most sweet and sensitive and inoffensive and well intentioned person in this world. Thankyou, you always brighten my day.

Oh yes, you should apply. Definitely. I'm also going through the same doubts, but my mind is made up from reading your poem. I will submit my application tomorrow. Thanks for helping to make it clear.

Warm wishes.

Oh, thankyou - it never really occured to me that others probably find themselves in similar situations. Best of luck with your application. I have my fingers crossed for you.

And all the best to you.

I went and saw the Prof today with my application and....well, she has agreed to be my supervisor, and I'm in. She somehow has the power to skip the red tape. I feel quite daunted now, and not sure I'll be up to it. My first appointment is for the 10th January. Ouch.

Good luck with yours. It sounds as if your process will be a bit more complicated?

Oh wow, that is terrific!!! I am so happy for you! Yup, that process sounds much shorter (and less painful in that sense) than the process I shall have to go through. But that being said just asking somebody something like that can be extremely daunting whereas I don't have to see anybody face to face. Well done!
