has anyone really wanted and really not had?

Has anyone on this board really wanted to be a writer and really not had the skill? Just wondering because this is sort of how I feel about me.

I often feel like that. I go through spells of being able to write and then months and months of nothing. I often turn to lyrics when this happens.

Hi greenwillow,
The essential ethic behind punk can be boiled down to a three-letter acronym: DIY. It stands for "Do It Yourself." The idea is that if you really want to make music, in the case of the Ramones, for example, you learn three or four chords, screw up your courage, and take the stage. You don't worry about how the work will be received; all that's important is whether you get pleasure out of doing it. And as with anything else, the more you do it, the better you get. This page is a very supportive environment in which to start writing. So my unsolicited advice: go for it full-throttle. If you feel like you stumble the first few times out of the gate, dust yourself off and start a new song. Nothing to fear here. Might as well go for it and post it. Besides, who are other people to judge your work? I don't see Shakespeare or Yeats or Byron among the noms de post in these parts. ;) Atticus
