Oi! How goes it? I was out of town for two days on business. As editor of the university's annual report, I had to oversee the press checks. I put in an 18-hour day Thursday pulling and ordering color corrections on proof after proof, and a 10-hour day on Friday putting this seven-month-long project to bed. We printed it out of the NYC/northern Jersey area (and in fact out of both states) because I pulled in better bids away from the city. This is the most expensive and critical publication that the university puts out each year, so these last two days were the most important of the year in terms of my job. (Past editors have lost their jobs for screwing this up.) Right now I'm dog-tired, but glad everything worked out. Now they've just got to print and bind it, then ship it. I need to have it ready in time for distribution at the school's first Board of Governors meeting of the new academic year. Anyway, I'm doing fine. Yourself? ;) Atticus

congrats! Atticus

**congrats!
I bet you are tired.
Do you get to take some time off after such a huge project?

How am I, you ask...the usual. listening to Ambient music on the web, sipping organic coffee with og cream, with an ever present fan blowing the tiny hairs on my right arm, watching the migrant birds booking it to the south through the valley past our mountain that is currently draped in a thick low cloud, listening to the local scanner reporting about an accident and pondering...hurricane Jeanne.
A close friend's dad is down in Florida and this hurricane is threatening to hit his area.
This will be his second hurricane this season.
I am worried.
My friends is quite distraught.
So I watch and wonder.

Atticus thanks for asking.

Hi Jai,
Thanks for the pat on the back. Nope. No rest for the wicked. I'm already in the middle of another not-quite-so-huge project (and behind on it as well -- D'oh!). Hope your friends in the "Sunshine" State come through this latest blow OK. ;) Atticus
