In the last minute

Posted by B2chica on May 31, 2004, at 9:50:12

In the last minute
the air is thick
my breaths grow shallow
i hear my heart beat slower and slower
as the cool water envelops me.

in the last minute
i hear the traffic up above
i smell exhaust
i feel the cool breeze
my last sounds, my last smell
the sounds go in and out as the ripples of water cover me.

Silence speaks.

life is muffled
the deep echo of engines above

In the last minute
the dirtied liquid stings my eyes
the sound of my heart bursts in my ears
the pressure of last bubbles release from my chest

Now that the decision is made
the panic begins
the thoughts of regret enter
the fear of unknown grows near
the fight for breath appears

In the last minute
it's too late.

too late for regrets
too late for a new day
too late to reach out
too late to say....
i'm sorry.
