where are they
we search for days, weeks and a whole season
I climbed through small scrub brush
over sharp chips of slate
in the hot August heat with last of the season wasps stinging
I looked everywhere there was an indentation or cave
bones of white resembling twigs were held and wondered over
cadaver dogs panting at my heels
long moments waiting, waiting, wondering what could have happened on that mountain with the full moon
the night Bethany hung up the phone from her boyfriend
the day Tina never appeared again
I sit and look at that mountain and wonder where are they
I just know they are on that mountain in a crevase or cave
bits of them crumbling into the river
we must find them
they have called to me
I have heard their voices singing from the mountain
I wait to bury their bones
soon we will gather with candles under the full moon
to light the darkness that has fallen on our communtiy

I know, I have done everything in my power to help the family...it's a no win situation.
