poem....dark rain

Posted by thinkfast on January 14, 2004, at 9:11:41

The thunder crashes loudly
As I lie in my bed,

Dozens of thoughts
Swim around in my head.

I think I hear a noise
It could have been a knock,

I run for the door
And undo the lock.

I close my eyes
Because there’s nothing but the rain,

Consequently I remember
The unforgotten pain.

I wake this way
Almost every single night,

Needing, and wanting
And longing for the light.

I survive in the darkness
With the help of no one,

I need that life of light
So the darkness, I can shun.

Not able to back out now
And afraid to fall apart,

A shocking sense of horror
Stunning my pounding heart.

Intimidated by my thoughts
As I pace back to my bed,

I will wake in the morning
Fearing the darkness
In my head.
