YIKES! Invited 2 perfect job interview/test!

Posted by Fivefires on October 23, 2007, at 12:44:07

U all, it's exactly what I've wanted, an answer to my prayers. But, it's been 7yrs since I've transcribed!

This is a local transcription co. which hires and you and you work as a subcontractor from your home. Because it is so close to me, I am even familiar w/ a lot of the doctors in my area and their voices and styles.

But ooohhhh .. I'm terrified ... not a good 'tester'.

My little book I'd compiled over the many yrs w/ of work, my particularly questionable words, is gone. I never thought I'd transcribe again!

I can wk out of hm for them! And .. PT!!! It would be just wonderful. My self-esteem needs this so badly.

It's just like a perfect lucky thing happened to me. I'm never lucky .. or at least haven't been for way too long.

I see 'the money tree' (just need make a little extra each month).

I don't want to blow it!

There's a typing test, spelling test, and homonym test. It's pants/skirt, no blue jeans, attire.

This opportunity is a blessing, I know it is. But you all, I'm SO scared. The lady said they are even calling in people w/o experience. So, how should I approach I wonder?

I was thinking maybe w/o way high expectations of myself. What think? (Afraid if try to reach the goal of 'when I was working', I'll fall below my goal. Used to do like 100wpm w/ accuracy o_o.)

If I can do an accurate test w/ an approx. 60-65wpm speed, I think this would be acceptable. No worries really about the other two tests, spelling and homonyms.

It's 9a this coming Thur, just 10m from my home.

U p/u tapes and return 24hrs later w/ transcription on disc or flash for them to print and send out.

I'm so nervous. I'm so afraid of failure. I really need you guys.

Unfortunately, can't practice here at home as keyboard is 5" too high, bad chair, obviously no transcriber.

I wish there were a way for me to go somewhere and practice taking a typing test.

Any suggestions very much appreciated.

There might be an online typing tutor you can use to get your speed and accuracy up. Try a google, maybe there is one you can download?

How lovely to have something in your field pop up like this - good for you!

Tell us how it goes.
