I have one boss who loves my work, one who hates it. I just did a huge report for the one who hates it. I turned it in 2 weeks ago and no comment from him, no feedback. Instead, I get a vague e-mail about meeting to discuss the general issue, but he didn't say it was specifically about my report. The meeting will be me and a bunch of big-wigs.
I've e-mailed the boss asking him for feedback and asking precisely what the meeting is about, so that I can prepare if necessary -- no response.
Any suggestions on what I can do to cover my *** at this meeting? Two of the four people I'm meeting with are senior staff with huge expertise in this area.....they could be tearing me apart for all I know.
My stomach is in knots about this.

Do both of your bosses see all your work? do they talk?
Maybe the nice boss knows what's with the meeting. Is there a way to tactfully get any information from her/him?

Snoozin - did you follow up the email with a phone call? Or can you go over there and talk to him in person before the meeting? I would keep pressing for details so that you can prepare for the meeting.
caveat - if it were me I would want to crawl under my desk and hide, and not get on the phone. Sounds like the issue can't be resolved by email, and it's much better to talk to him one-on-one than to go four-on-one.

When is this meeting? Any chance they have an agenda that they could forward you?
It just doesn't seem fair to leave you in the dark...

Thanks, guys, for the ideas. I couldn't talk to the one boss becuase he teleworks. And I'm off the next two days for doctor's appointments.
I e-mailed the nice boss, and told him the issue, asking for his advice. I'll go into work Monday night after the doc appointments to see if anyone's e-mailed back or called....see if I get more information and know where to go from there.
I just am at the point I *really* need to take care of my physical health right now....this stress from the job is *not* good. Grrrr.

Well, the meeting went much better than expected. They all said I did an excellent job. I have some additional things I need to add to my report, but only because of a request for certian information, and not because I screwed up. ;)
Thanks guys, for being so supportive!
This is the end of the thread.
