I have been on Lex for 3 months at 10 mgs/day. I can not take the funny se's anymore. I quit Lex cold turkey. This is the 5th day and I feel much better. Anxiety seems to have gone away. Maybe the Lex was too stimulating for me.
Could this be all there is to it or are withdrawal symtoms not going to start for longer period??? I hope that since I have not had any problems in 5 days, I won't.???!!

Withdrawal side effects for me usually start in the 2 day to 4 day range. I hardly ever feel anything the first day. If you get away with few or no withdrawals, that is very very cool. Since you haven't experienced anything yet, that is unusual and maybe a good sign? I wish for it to continue to be a smooth transition for you.
Maybe since it was only about a month the withdrawals are so mild? Maybe lexapro is easier in that regard compared to other meds. I bet if you had been on effexor for a month it wouldn't be such a smooth ride.

Must have a long half life like Prozac. Those are easier to come off of than the ones that leave your system more quickly. Smooth sailing for you...hope it continues. SG

I hope I am just one of the people that can not tolerate Lexapro. I made it through another day with no problems. I have not had the daily anxiety that has been nagging everyday. I have been keeping a few Xanax's in my pocket, but have not needed them.
I am still scared I am going to go "postal" any day. That is what is "suppose" to happen when you quit cold turkey?
Hard to believe I quit Lexapro and Xanax at the same time and feel better. I assume I only needed the Xanax for the Anxiety caused by the lexapro.
The math does not add up, but I am happy and will keep my fingers crossed. I should know for sure in a few more days for sure. I am also glad there are people out there to help with good information while going through something like this.
All of the medical field keeps telling me to start taking Lexapro again before I have horrible withdrawals, although I am doing better! Is this there standard answer?

I've stopped Lexapro three times at 20 mg after months/years and never had any withdrawal symptoms. I think you're out of the woods!

Almost in my 9th day (in the morning). I have not noticed much difference since stopping Lex. No zaps or dizziness. I thought that anxiety was less, but maybe about the same. Still need .5 - 1.0mg of xanax per day. I do have a "funny/bad" feeling in my lower stomach. Not sure what that is from.
As I may have mentioned before. I had Horrible side effects for 1 month. Then the contiued bad feelings (anxiety and funny head) for the last 2 months. Everytime I tried to up dosage everything got worse, so I decided to stop. Can it take 1 month for Lexapro to get out of system since it took so long to get any better?
Any thoughts or comments very welcome??

I hope its over. If so, nothing changed except maybe little less anxiety.
The easiest way to put my questions is - is 9 days enough time to know whether I will feel better, worse, or the same after Lexapro.

At day 9, two days ago, I felt some slight anxiety and became scared since I quit cold turkey. So, I took 10mg. of Lex at lunch. Woke up at 4am on morning of day 10 in a panic and today is WORSE. No appetite, anxiety, and feel very bad. Could this be due to the 1 dose I took on day 9 of cold turkey or just now seeing side effects of quitting???
Today if feel just like the second day I took Lexapro in beginning of "treatment" (3.5 months ago).
This is the end of the thread.
