Cymbalta Withdrawl

Posted by dianedebt on May 24, 2006, at 7:17:47

Hi,
Today is Tuesday May 23, 2006. I have been on Cymbalta 60 mg. since Jan.4th when I had a depressive episode and was hospitalized. I have to say the depression finally got better, although now, I do have brief depressive episodes not lasting more than a weekend at most. I have tried to cut out the Cymbalta. My copay went up to $40.00 and my Psychiatrist says that she has no "free" samples. I have other meds I must take for HTN, including Clonidine. I've been off of the Cymbalta about one week, cold-turkey or chicken if you will. I have been having higher than usual blood pressure at night and that swooshing sound in my ears when I turn my eyes. And I had unusual headaches for about 3 days. My Clonidine for my high blood pressure must be keeping my withdrawl symptoms at bay during the day while I am at work. I input data into the pc all day long and am fine. It is when I come home at night that the fun begins with the strange happenings inside my head. I am a nurse and I do know better than to "cold turkey" meds. But financially, I'm strapped. So to close this I would have to say the Clonidine is keeping my withdrawl symptoms at bay during the day plus I take Advil for back pain, and Tylenol for the headaches. I hope I come off this and never put another SSRI into my body again.

Many people report feeling depressed while taking clonidine. Is it possible that clonidine might be affecting you that way?

I find it interesting that clonidine should help mitigate withdrawal symptoms. Another drug frequently used to help with withdrawal is Benadryl.
